What Is Breast Augmentation-Mastopexy?
Breast augmentation-mastopexy – also known as a breast augmentation with a lift or a breast lift with implants – is a procedure designed to elevate the breasts to a more youthful position while also enhancing their size and/or shape. This combination treatment can often be an excellent option for women experiencing both drooping and volume loss in the breasts following pregnancy, as well as those who desire to augment their breasts but have an excessive amount of skin that would prevent an optimal outcome to be achieved with implants alone.
An augmentation-mastopexy is usually performed as a single operation. During the procedure, a “lollipop” incision that goes around the areola and extends down to the inframammary crease beneath the breasts will first be made, and excess skin will be removed. Breast tissues will then be lifted to an ideal position on the chest wall, and the desired implant will be carefully inserted and positioned in the breast pocket using the Keller Funnel™ “no-touch” technique. Once the implants have been properly situated, the breast skin will be pulled tight and reattached below the natural breast curvature.
The final result of a breast lift with implants is generally a rejuvenated breast contour and projection that looks exceptionally natural.
