What Are the Benefits of a Breast Lift with Implants?
Over time, many women begin to notice some extent of volume loss and/or drooping in the breasts brought on by pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, or simply the natural aging process. Depending on how significant these physical changes are, individuals desiring to enhance the appearance of their breasts have a number of cosmetic surgical options available to them, including breast augmentation, mastopexy, or a combination of both procedures.
While breast augmentation performed alone can increase the size of the breasts, it will not correct a moderate to substantial amount of breast sagging caused by excess skin and tissues. Similarly, mastopexy can lift the breasts to a more youthful position on the chest wall, but the procedure will not add volume to the breasts on its own. For these reasons, many women interested in simultaneously addressing these aesthetic concerns may benefit most from a breast lift with implants.
Also referred to as an augmentation with a lift or augmentation-mastopexy, a breast lift with implants can be customized to help patients:
- Enhance the size and volume of the breasts
- Eliminate extra breast skin to correct drooping/sagging
- Raise the breasts on the chest wall for an improved projection
- Improve the overall shape of the breasts
- Resize and/or reposition the nipple-areolar complexes
If you are considering cosmetic surgery to rejuvenate your breasts, I encourage you to seek the expertise of a board-certified plastic surgeon who has experience in all forms of breast enhancement. Following a physical examination and thorough review of your unique needs and goals, he or she should be able to determine if breast augmentation, mastopexy, or an augmentation with a lift would be the most appropriate treatment option.
