JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC

Dr. Stafford Broumand is renowned for his exceptional skill and artistry in achieving natural, rejuvenated Voluma results.

Approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for patients 21 and older, JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC is designed to instantaneously augment the cheeks and various areas of the midface that have lost volume due to aging and/or numerous other factors. In addition to volume restoration, this innovative filler also works to reduce moderate to severe lines and wrinkles in the targeted treatment region for a smoother overall complexion. Often in as little as one treatment session, our board-certified plastic surgeon can use JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC to help you restore a more youthful facial aesthetic with exceptionally natural-looking, long-lasting results.

What Is JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC?

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC is a longer-lasting, more highly cross-linked injectable treatment that can build volume and restore fullness in the midface, particularly around the cheekbones and under the eyelids. This injectable product is the only FDA-approved, hyaluronic acid-based filler designed to augment these specific facial regions. By adding volume, it also helps to lift cheek mass and decrease the overhang and/or shadowing of the nasolabial fold. In clinical studies, the results of JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC have been known to last up to two years, far surpassing the longevity of all other HA fillers intended for midfacial augmentation.

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC vs. Similar Injectables

Results from JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC are instantaneous and generally last anywhere from one and a half to two years, so there is really nothing else on the market that compares to its longevity without a need for additional treatments. Similar injectable fillers, such as Sculptra® Aesthetic and RADIESSE®, have different mechanisms of action, consequently requiring multiple treatments to achieve optimal volume for most patients.

Furthermore, considering the specific volume and placement of the filler (in contrast to the lips, nasolabial folds, corners of the mouth, etc.), the potential side-effects of treatment with JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC are often the easiest to deal with for any volume enhancing injectables performed by our plastic surgeons. Aside from minimal swelling, VOLUMA patients typically experience the least amount of bruising, bleeding, and recovery time.

It is important to note that this does not mean other volume enhancers should not be utilized. In fact, injectables like Sculptra® Aesthetic, RADIESSE®, and various others are particularly beneficial should the patient need a broader range of volume enhancement. The most appropriate injectable for every individual will need to be determined on a case by case basis.

The JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC Procedure

There is no allergy testing required prior to the JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC procedure since hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the body. During treatment, the filler solution is gently injected into targeted areas of the cheeks and midface using a special Dermasculpt® Microcannula. While this technique alone helps to maximize patient comfort, a local anesthetic (lidocaine) contained within the solution also helps to alleviate any potential discomfort. Depending on the extent of aging symptoms and quantity of regions being treated, the entire JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC procedure can generally be completed in 30 minutes or less, providing the opportunity for many patients to undergo treatment during their lunch hour.

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC Recovery

There might be some mild bruising and/or swelling in the targeted areas right after treatment, but these side effects tend to dissipate rather quickly. Most patients look and feel well enough to return to office jobs and other non-strenuous daily routines as soon as they leave our office, though vigorous exercise and/or other physical activities should be avoided for at least 24 hours. The results of JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC are typically apparent instantaneously with treatment, and in most cases the anti-aging effects have been known to last up to two years, sometimes longer. Once the results begin to diminish, retreatment may be recommended to maintain an ideal outcome.
